Frequently asked questions
Does it cost anything to use Orchard?
No. Using Orchard is free, and plan prices are set by the carriers, so you never pay more for shopping here.
When am I allowed to sign up?
The main window is Open Enrollment, which runs once a year, usually from late fall into the new year. Exact dates depend on your state's Marketplace.
Outside that window you may still have options.
A qualifying life event, such as a move, a new job, marriage or a new baby, can open a Special Enrollment Period for you.
How can Orchard lower my costs?
When you enter your household size and estimated income, Orchard checks whether you qualify for premium tax credits and cost-sharing reductions. These reduce what you pay each month or when you get care, and most Marketplace enrollees receive them.¹
