Frequently asked questions
How is my estimate worked out?
The calculator applies the federal premium tax credit rules to the details you enter: household size, location, ages and expected income.
Treat the result as a guide. Your exact credit is set when you complete your Marketplace application.
Will HealthCare.gov give me the same amount?
It should. Orchard is a HealthCare.gov-approved enrollment partner, and the estimate follows the same federal rules the Marketplace uses.
The difference is that you can see your credit next to real plans and enroll in the same place, without starting over on another site. The final amount is confirmed when you apply.
Does the estimate include deductibles and copays?
No. It only covers the monthly premium. Deductibles, copays, coinsurance and other out-of-pocket costs are separate.
The cheapest premium is not always the cheapest plan over a year. On Orchard you can compare premiums and deductibles side by side to see the full picture before you choose.
